Host committee plans Detroit Super Bowl with interactive technology

Rear Projection SMART Board 3000i interactive whiteboard simplifies complex planning and logistics

CALGARY, Alberta --- June 10, 2005 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that the Detroit Super Bowl® XL Host Committee for the 2006 Super Bowl will use a Rear Projection SMART Board™ 3000i interactive whiteboard as a key tool for planning this world-class event. The committee will create comprehensive plans and use the 3000i’s large interactive display to share a complex schedule of activities and keep all the partners up to date and on track.

To accommodate all the stakeholders and anticipated visitors, the committee will coordinate various agencies and contractors to work out the logistics of parking, security and vendors. With the 3000i, committee members can bring up images, photographs and diagrams of Detroit’s Ford Field and the surrounding area, and simply pick up a pen to digitally map parking lots, security zones and vendor areas. The files can then be saved for future reference and additional planning. The 3000i will help the host committee develop clear lines of communication and effectively collaborate, share information and plan all the elements needed in time for kick-off on February 6, 2006.

“The Super Bowl XL Host Committee works with a number of people and organizations who need to know a wide range of information,” says Henry Tokarz, vice president of finance and administration for the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee. “The Rear Projection SMART Board 3000i interactive whiteboard gives us the ability to create dynamic presentations for any audience and is a great collaborative tool for going over all our large-scale logistics with contractors and stakeholders. Being able to make notes over any application at any time allows us to make changes during meetings, incorporating feedback effectively without losing any of the details.”

“Keeping a diverse group of stakeholders informed and moving forward is a complex task when organizing a major sporting event like the Super Bowl,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s president and co-CEO. “By using a SMART Board interactive whiteboard to make effective presentations and focus collaboration, the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee has found a powerful tool to ensure everyone is ready to deliver an outstanding experience in Super Bowl celebrations.”
